macUpgrades – 2003 – 2005 – Senior Service Technician
During my time with MacUpgrades I was the senior (most often only) in-house service technician. I was responsible for all in and out of warranty repairs both in house and mailed in to Apple Service. I was responsible for maintaining and prioritizing my own workflow, maintaining my own service department, and for the setup and implementation of the technological apparatus necessary to triage and repair any and all hardware and software issues relevant to Apple desk- top and Portable systems. This included Apple hardware and software as well as integrated 3rd party hardware and software solutions. Beyond this, in many cases I was called upon to perform hardware support and repair on-site as needed. I was also called upon from time to time to apply my electrical and mechanical skills to repair and troubleshoot obscure and random projects at the request of my company owner. This included but was not limited to custom painting, light metal work, soldering, and the rebuilding of damaged/nonfunctional 3rd party hardware.
Besides the service and technical component of my role, I was also tasked with many company internal responsibilities including, branding projects, including the company website, promotional materials in store and in print, t-shirt design, and printed company materials.
Furthermore, I was tasked with participating in the interview process for secondary in-house and on-site technicians, and was responsible for a majority of their training for both real world application of skills and for the Apple Service Certification process.
